The Facility Project

The Facility was set up to provide a Textiles specific space with the focus on Textiles micro manufacturing, studios and marketing. The Facility space is currently located in a former unused commercial unit at Ocean Terminal. It is now the home of a range of makers and creators, namely Interview Room 11 Gallery, the Facility Shop, Somewhere To, and Kalopsia's own Textiles Micro Manufacturing unit. The Facility was developed following a feasibility study with Zero Waste Scotland with support from Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre and Edinburgh City Council. It has developed as a textiles manufacturing model with the focus of maximising benefits to independent and the small textiles community in Scotland. One of the key aspects today is working in an ethical and sustainable way by offering skills and idea sharing, taking on redundant equipment and utilising textile offcuts and waste. The space is growing organically and is constantly evolving to meet the needs of those who are working in the space.
