OUR STORY

Kalopsia is a forward thinking Textiles Micro-Manufacturing company which is pushing the boundaries of what and how Textiles production should look like. In 2012, Kalopsia began asking the question “What is Textiles?”. Kalopsia is today is operating as a Social Enterprise in Edinburgh’s port - Leith - a busy creative and cultural area like no other. Kalopsia keeps questioning the industry with goals to increase awareness and knowledge of ecological, ethical and sustainable Textiles.

CONTEMPORARY TEXTILES

In 2013 we opened up the Kalopsia Gallery which was set-up to showcase works by both local and international creators working in the field of 'Contemporary textiles'. Located in Ocean Terminal, a shopping centre in Leith Edinburgh, the gallery was designed to bring the attention to the use of textiles within conceptual art.

INNOVATION PROJECTS

After working with Zero Waste Scotland we set up 'The Facility' in 2015 to provide a space for creative organisations and individuals to connect, collaborate and innovate. The Facility space was located in a former commercial unit where it provided studios, a gallery, shop and a textiles production space.
